Techno-crazy Brits 'spend 9 hours a day playing with their gadgets'

Britons are definitely a technology-obsessed lot - a new survey revealed that they spend an amazing nine hours a day playing with their gadgets.

London, Oct 12 : Britons are definitely a technology-obsessed lot - a new survey revealed that they spend an amazing nine hours a day playing with their gadgets.

From switching off the alarm clock, to surfing the net, sending emails and then crashing in front of the TV at night, gizmos dominate their lives.

12 percent of them dream of future gadgets even in bed, according to research commissioned by protectyourbubble.com, a site which provides gadget insurance.

"The average person probably isn't even awake for much longer than 16 hours a day yet more than half of that time is completely dominated by gizmos," The Daily Star quoted the firm's Stephen Ebbett as saying.

"But the fact is many electrical appliances we use regularly - such as the computer, washing machine and microwave - are both necessary and time saving," Ebbett said.

"So we might spend a few minutes fiddling with them, but they continue to work and carry out tasks for us even when we're busy doing something else," he added.

Part of the boom has been put down to the popularity of Twitter and Facebook, used by millions to keep up to date with the latest news on friends and family.
