Washington, June 11: Singer Ashlee Simpson has refuted claims of a split with her rock star husband Pete Wentz.

According to sources, the pop star is unable to balance between her duty as a mother to their seven-month-old son Bronx Mowgli and her career.

"Ashlee is a loving mother, but she is overwhelmed," Contactmusic quoted a source, as telling Us Weekly magazine.

Speculation of a break-up between the two has been in the air for months. Earlier in March this year, the couple had dismissed similar reports with their spokesman saying, "Everything is fine in their world."

However, the rumours did not stop.

And the latest buzz is that Simpson's partying and drunken behaviour is testing the Fall Out Boy rocker's patience.

The stunner made it to the headlines last week after launching a verbal attack on Wentz's ex-girlfriend, actress Michelle Trachtenberg, at a Los Angeles bash.

However, there was apology later claiming there was a "misunderstanding" and that the two women "remain on good terms".

"Ashlee is having major problems with Pete right now. They fight constantly. She is seriously considering leaving him. They have been arguing a lot recently. They're in different places (in their lives)," a source said.

However, the spokesperson for the 24-year-old has shot down the reports, saying, "Ashlee and Pete are in a stable, happy marriage. They love one another and love being a family. "
