The legendary character of Mr Spock in Star Trek was originally conceptualised to become a sex symbol, revealed a newly-discovered letter from the cult TV shows creator.
London, July 15 : The legendary character of Mr Spock in 'Star Trek' was originally conceptualised to become a sex symbol, revealed a newly-discovered letter from the cult TV show's creator.
In the letter, Gene Roddenberry, who died aged 70 in 1991, wrote that he gave the pointy-eared Vulcan a "look of the devil".
And he believed that his looks would be "particularly provocative to women", reports The Sun.
In the sci-fi series, Leonard Nimoy played Spock, who had the catchphrase "to boldly go where no man has gone before".
But it was William Shatner's character Captain James T Kirk that went on to become the male sex symbol.
Roddenberry refers to Spock as "Spoke" in the 1973 letter.
And according to estimates, the letter could fetch 1,200 pounds at auction on Saturday in London.
