Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, who plays Leonardo DiCaprios love interest in Body of Lies, fears exile from her homeland.
New York, Oct 9 : Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, who plays Leonardo DiCaprio's love interest in 'Body of Lies,' fears exile from her homeland.
The 25-year-old actress, is one of Iran's biggest stars, and has now become the first Iranian-based actress to appear in a Hollywood film since the 1979 Islamic revolution. However, the gorgeous actress may face court trial for breaking law after making the film without permission.
"I had a lot of problems because of this movie [Iranian officials] took my passport. The intelligence service interrogated me several times. In the end, the judge said, 'We have to see the movie and then decide what we're going to do with you,'" The New York Daily News quoted the actress, as saying.
In the movie, Farahani plays a nurse who treats DiCaprio's character, but refrains from her advances, insisting that he first meet her family. In fact she doesn't even shakes hand with him in the movie.
While her passport has been returned, she still fears that the government might seize it again on her return to her homeland.
"I'm on trial. I'm totally in love with Iran. I have family there. But now, if they want to see me, they have to leave," she said.
The actress is living in France with husband Amin Mahdavi.
