Popstar Beyonce Knowles has revealed that she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown soon after her pop career took off.

London, Nov 7 : Popstar Beyonce Knowles has revealed that she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown soon after her pop career took off.

The 'Ave Maria' hitmaker was so much loaded with work that the stardom became a threat to her health in the early years of her career.

"Years ago, I was definitely heading for a breakdown. Just way too much work - my life was my career and I had no other life," The Sun quoted Beyonce, as telling US magazine Gotham.

While in the interview, the stunner also revealed the reason behind 'Destiny Child's' split, insisting that she is not to be blamed for the break-up.

The star came under attack after her band members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson left the group and filed suit against the group's manager and Knowles' father, Matthew, claiming favouritism, in 1999.

The 27-year-old singer said that she became an easy target before she and bandmate Kelly Rowland rose to superstardom with new member Michelle Williams.

"It was definitely difficult because I was so young and my father was my manager and the group was like family. I felt like, what are we gonna do? We weren't making any money yet," she said.

"I was the lead singer, so I got the blame... That was the first time I had to deal with rumours and people attacking me," Beyonce said.
