Uma Thurmans stalker speaks out about his affection

American actress Uma Thurmans stalker spoke out about his affection for her at the New York court, stating that she was his first crush in high school and that he had never meant to scare her.

London, May 04 : American actress Uma Thurman's stalker spoke out about his affection for her at the New York court, stating that she was his "first crush in high school" and that he had never meant to scare her.

According to reports, Thurman was shaking and very emotional as she told the jury how she had been terrified by Jack Jordan's sinister advances. The next day he tried to downplay his behaviour in front of the same jury.

The 37-year-old stalker admitted he had told the Hollywood actress' parents he would kill himself if he didn't get to see her but excused it as "a clumsy and poor way of expressing my emotions for her".

Jordan, who is a former psychiatric patient, denied the five charges brought against him that were related to harassing and stalking Thurman for more than two years.

As his antics came out one after another, a jury in Manhattan Supreme Court was told he would spend days loitering outside her home in the city and once got as far as her trailer on a film set by saying he was a friend of her parents.

He also passed on a bizarre card to 38-year-old Thurman, which she has described in court as bearing a drawing of an open grave, a headstone and a man standing on the edge of a razor blade. It also contained a piece of paper illustrated with the picture of a bride with her head torn off.

Jordan had even written down some messages, which Thurman read out to the court.

"My hands should be on your body at all times," the Telegraph quoted the actress who was "completely freaked out".

George Vomvolakis, defending, had suggested in court on Thursday that Thurman's agitated demeanour was "a little overdone and exaggerated".

Looking calm and speaking articulately, Jordan recalled his long-standing affection for the star of Pulp Fiction, Dangerous Liaisons and Kill Bill.

"She was the first crush that I had in high school. I've seen different movies that she's made over the years," he said.

It was further revealed that Thurman was not the only one the stalker was fond off, for he was even interested in her family.

Robert Thurman is a distinguished academic at Columbia University and Jordan said he took an "instant liking to him" on hearing him interviewed on the radio.

"I liked everything that I heard him say. I felt I had met a kindred spirit," Jordan said.

According to him he had tried to get in touch with Mr. Thurman via email to get him involved in a charity he ran, but was not successful.

It was only when he eventually began to express interest in meeting his famous daughter, Mr. Thurman became cold and distant.

"During the time I wrote Dr Thurman that letter, I saw the movie Kill Bill. I was overcome by a strong feeling of affection for her. It had an esoteric feeling.

"I have never had that kind of feeling before in my life," Jordan stated.

He admitted that his attempts to meet Thurman were "misguided" and "heavy-handed".

"This was very uncharacteristic of me. I'm a very private man. I feel humiliated by this process right now.

"What was private has been made very public. But that's not the issue here," he added.

Jordan, who was arrested in October 2007, is a graduate of Chicago University but now lives with his parents in Maryland.
