Halle Berry expects motherhood to boost her career

Halle Berry is hoping that her newfound motherhood will boost her chances of getting more Oscar-winning roles, as having a baby has destroyed her sex symbol status.

Washington, May 30 : Halle Berry is hoping that her newfound motherhood will boost her chances of getting more Oscar-winning roles, as having a baby has destroyed her sex symbol status.

The actress, who won an Academy Award for Monster's Ball in 2002, said that before pregnancy, her career was held back by her reputation as a big screen beauty.

And now that she is a mother to two-month-old Nahla with model Gabriel Aubry, Berry is counting on more edgy movie offers.

"I feel having a baby will open up a whole new world for me. I think I'll actually find better roles, because I've gotten past being the ingenue and sex symbol," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

However, the actress added that studio bosses would have to get used to a harder-to-come-by Berry, as she plans to take much longer gaps between jobs, so she can be a proper mother.

"I'm definitely going to work less. I used to put so much pressure on myself to succeed that it often made me very unhappy in my personal life," she said.

"I felt on the verge of burning out three or four years ago," she added.
