Behind-the-scenes Monroe-Gable footage up for grabs

A behind-the-scenes film of Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable on the set of their last feature film The Misfits is set to be auctioned in Las Vegas.

London, May 30 : A behind-the-scenes film of Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable on the set of their last feature film 'The Misfits' is set to be auctioned in Las Vegas.

The video features the legendary actors preparing for scenes of the film, chatting with the crew and others on the set, and relaxing between takes.

The auction of the two-reel silent, eight-millimetre colour film entitled "On Set With The Misfits" is expected to start at between 10,000 dollars and 20,000 dollars.

The 47-minute film would be up for sale next month at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas by Julien's Auctions.

Julien's Auctions Web site claims that it is the original film shot by amateur photographer Stanley Floyd Kilarr, who captured scenes of the stars and crew during the making of the 1960 movie, which was the final completed film for both Monroe and Gable.

The film features candid moments with Monroe and Gable, as well as Montgomery Clift, Thelma Ritter and director John Huston.

"The two things that make it interesting are that very few people knew it even existed, and that the family was able to obtain a copyright," Telegraph quoted Darren Julien, of the auction house, as saying.

The buyer would also own the rights to license the footage for use in like documentaries and special-edition DVDs.
