Janet Jackson to tour for first time in seven years

American singer Janet Jackson has announced that she is going to hit the road again for the first time since 2001 - a gap of seven-years.

Washington, May 21 : American singer Janet Jackson has announced that she is going to hit the road again for the first time since 2001 - a gap of seven-years.

The Rhythm Nation star is set to start from Vancouver for a new North American tour, including stops in New York and Washington, before her Rock Witchu tour goes worldwide.

"It's been a while so I really want to make my rounds," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

"I haven't been to Australia in a very long time; I can't wait to go there.

"There are a lot of places where I really want to stop off at, and that's the idea, that's the goal with this tour," she added.

The 42-year-old singer revealed that she had planned a series of concerts after the 2006 release of her album 20 Y.O., but was not able to do so as her record label requested her to postpone her plans in order to work on a new CD.

"I was supposed to go on tour with the last album," she explained.

"We were actually in full-blown tour rehearsals at that point... learning numbers, getting everything together, set designs.

"I had to kind of shut everything down and go into the studio," she stated.

Her most recent album Discipline hit the shelves in February and Jackson promised a dramatic stage show to support her last two releases.

"It will definitely be a big production but it will definitely also be something that I've never done before, that people have never seen from me before," she added.

Tickets for the tour, for which the full itinerary will be announced next week, will go on sale from June 7th.
