George Michael to perform at American Idol finale?

George Michael is reportedly set to perform at the American Idol finale.

Washington, May 21 : George Michael is reportedly set to perform at the 'American Idol' finale.

Earlier this week, Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe hinted that the 'biggest star in the world' was coming to the show, but refused to reveal who the artist would be, reports E! Online.

The 'Freedom' hit-maker's appearance would coincide with his 20-city tour which starts June 17 in San Diego; and his recently released two-disc CD, Twenty-Five.

Reps for the show would not confirm Michael's appearance, while a rep for the former Wham! frontman could not be immediately reached.

Finalists David Cook and David Archuleta may perform Michael hits during the two-hour finale that will also include Carrie Underwood performing her new single, 'Last Name.'

Producers may still be working out last-minute plans with additional singers.
