London, May 17 : English pop and rock singer Sir Elton John has been offered 2.6million pounds by a female Russian tycoon to play an hour-long gig for her.
Sir Elton, who is already worth a lot, would be getting paid 711 pounds a second, provided he agrees to perform at the launch of her swish Moscow hotel.
"Initially Elton turned her down because he's so busy," the Sun quoted a source as saying.
"But when the offer crossed the 2million pounds barrier it was too much to refuse, even for someone of his means. And let's be honest, 2.6million pounds buys a hell of a lot of flowers.
"He's on the verge of saying yes," the source added.
The 61-year-old singer, who was paid 1.5million pounds for a private gig in 2001, would be flown to the autumn launch by private jet, and security guards would escort him to the hotel in the posh Rublyovka district.
It's the first time that any single artist has been offered so much money for a gig, and news is that John will be playing classics, and he would then be flying straight home.
There have not been any comments from his spokesman about the offer.
