Scooter knocks Madge off top of British album charts

German techno band Scooter knocked Madonna off the top of the British album charts with their new album going straight to number one.

London, May 12 : German techno band Scooter knocked Madonna off the top of the British album charts with their new album going straight to number one.

The band's first album since 2002, entitled 'Jumping All Over The World', ended the US pop queen's reign at the album chart.

Scooter is a surprising chart topper as the group have released only two singles in the UK over the past five years and both failed to break the top 40, reports BBC.

However, Madonna remained number one in the singles list with the track '4 Minutes' featuring Justin Timberlake.

Welsh singer Duffy was steady at number three with her album 'Rockferry' while Sam Sparro was at number four.

Rounding off the top five was Portishead's album 'Third'.

UK's top five albums:

1. Scooter - Jumping All Over the World

2. Madonna - Hard Candy

3. Duffy - Rockferry

4. Sam Sparro - Sam Sparro

5. Portishead - Third
