Will Smith to host Nelson Mandelas 90th birthday bash

Will Smith and his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith have been tapped to host former South African president Nelson Mandelas 90th birthday bash in Londons Hyde Park.

London, Mar 7 : Will Smith and his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith have been tapped to host former South African president Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday bash in London's Hyde Park.

The event, which is set to take place on June 27, is being set up by Mandela's 46664 campaign against Aids team after he chose London for his 90th celebration.

According to a source, the bands to perform at the function include Razorlight, Keane, Queen and singer Annie Lennox.

U2, Spice Girls and Sir Paul McCartney have been approached to perform but there is no confirmation.

The source said that organisers of the event are also trying to rope in the controversial rapper Eminem.

"Will Smith is a big fan of Mandela and wanted to help out. Mandela is so inspirational and so many artistes want to be involved. Razorlight and Keane are definite," The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

"We think it will be Mandela's last official international public appearance, which will make it more special.

"Eminem's up for it too. People will be surprised. He's not someone you'd expect to play a Mandela charity gig," the source added.

Organisers have decided that the 45,000 tickets for the show will be sold using a Glastonbury-style online registration system.

Princes William and Harry and ex-US president Bill Clinton and wife Hillary are expected to attend the party.
