Redstone, the head of Viacom and CBS, and Cruise fell apart almost two years ago, after the former fired the actor over his jumping session on Oprah Winfrey's couch to demonstrate his love for Katie Holmes.
The differences arose when Cruise went on "Today" to promote "Mission: Impossible III," but ended up going on a tirade against prescription drugs.
But now it seems the two want to regain the professional relationship.
Redstone and Cruise went for lunch to the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel, one of LA's most public places for a rapprochement.
"Tom is missing Paramount. He needs a hit," the New York Post quoted a source, as saying.
