Pitt provides poorest Katrina survivors 150 pink-painted houses

Brad Pitt has provided a new lease of life to the poorest residents of New Orleans, Louisiana who were left homeless by Hurricane Katrina - by providing them with 150 pink-painted houses.

Washington, Mar 25 : Brad Pitt has provided a new lease of life to the poorest residents of New Orleans, Louisiana who were left homeless by Hurricane Katrina - by providing them with 150 pink-painted houses.

The 'Meet Joe Black' star had pledged to help the thousands of families left stranded without shelter after the natural disaster shook the city in 2005.

The Hollywood hunk was mesmerized by New Orleans after he worked on new movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button there.

He subsequently bought a family home in the city for him, his wife Angelina Jolie and their brood of children.

For his project, Make It Right Scheme, he raised 10 million dollars to rebuild the city.

And the 44-year-old states he chose the vibrant colour, pink, to signify the city's glimmering future.

"The heart and soul of New Orleans are paramount to this project," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.
