Oprah Winfrey seeking Aussie leader for South African school

Oprah Winfrey is searching Australia in order to find a teacher who can help her realise her dream of educating disadvantaged African girls.

Washington, March 24 : Oprah Winfrey is searching Australia in order to find a teacher who can help her realise her dream of educating disadvantaged African girls.

The US talk show queen is on the lookout for someone to head Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, with her sights set steadily on Australia.

Winfrey opened the 40 million-dollar school in South Africa last year, and advertised in Australian papers over the weekend for the headmaster's position.

The former headmistress Nomvuyo Mzamane was dismissed following allegations a dormitory matron had sexually molested underage students while she was in charge.

Details about the position are meagre, although it has been confirmed that Winfrey wanted a principal with international experience to help increase the charity of the school.

John Magana, managing director of Search Associates, which is heading up recruitment for Winfrey, said that contracts with the media mogul prevented him discussing details of the project or what qualities were being sought.

According to Winfrey, the school aims to provide free education and boarding to girls with ambitions to become leaders of their community.
