Glastonbury fest under threat over killer tent pegs

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has claimed that his rock festival is under threat- because cows are dying after eating tent pegs left by revellers.

London, Mar 14 : Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has claimed that his rock festival is under threat- because cows are dying after eating tent pegs left by revellers.

The 72-year-old, who has been hosting the event since 1970, said some of his award-winning Holstein Friesians had been choked by metal spikes left in the grounds of Worthy Farm by campers at last year's event, reports The Scotsman.

In order to combat the problem, more than a million biodegradable tent pegs will be distributed to 137,500 revellers expected for this year's festival in June.

Eavis, a dairy farmer, said he feared for the future of the festival after discovering the dead cows.

He refused to say how many of his herd of 360 had been killed.
