Clooney wants Omega to protest Chinese foreign policy in Sudan

American actor George Clooney has been a brand ambassador for Omega Watches ambassador since 2007, and he now wants them to promote one of his causes - protesting Chinese foreign policy in Sudan.

Washington, Mar 12 : American actor George Clooney has been a brand ambassador for Omega Watches ambassador since 2007, and he now wants them to promote one of his causes - protesting Chinese foreign policy in Sudan.

The famous brand will be one of the sponsors of the Beijing Olympics, and Clooney would like them to promote his fight against the nation's foreign policy concerning Dafur.

And while it may not be a very easy task to get the producers to go along with his request, Clooney is giving it a shot.

"I have talked with Omega (about China) for over a year and will continue to talk to Omega," the New York Post quoted him as telling the BBC.

China's relationship with Sudan has caused a lot of distress. Among those affected was Stephen Spielberg, who backed out last month from his role as the artistic advisor for the Olympics' closing and opening ceremonies.

Omega is taking a very neutral look towards the whole matter and has no problems with Clooney fighting for the cause.

"We have full respect for [George's] strong engagement in the fight for the good cause and share his opinion, especially concerning Darfur, and we are proud to work with a person who has such high ethical views," a rep for the company told the BBC.

They plan to help out behind the scenes, through direct talks with officials, as opposed to public stands.

"We do it the Swiss way of 'little strokes fell great oaks,'" the rep added.
