Neil Marshall to helm Rogue Pictures Sacrilege

With his latest film Doomsday on the brink of release, Neil Marshall has declared his follow-up project - writing and directing Sacrilege for Rogue Pictures.

Washington, Mar 11 : With his latest film 'Doomsday' on the brink of release, Neil Marshall has declared his follow-up project - writing and directing 'Sacrilege' for Rogue Pictures.

Described as a horror film set in the Old West during the time of the Gold Rush, Marshall pitched the idea to Focus Features and they went for it.

"It is set during the Gold Rush, a time remembered for incidents like the Donner Party. It is meant to be a pitch-black, gritty, period horror movie," Variety quoted Marshall, as saying.

Although Marshall refused to reveal details of the film but he said that Sacrilege' will draw on themes of isolation and paranoia and such influences as John Carpenter's 'The Thing.'

"This is 'Unforgiven' by way of H.P. Lovecraft, with that grim, gritty setting and a horror element nobody has seen before," Marshall said.
