Did Naomi Campbells celeb status save her from the slammer?

Naomi Campbell escaped a jail sentence and got just 200 hours community service and a 2,945-pound fine over assault on jet - just because shes a famous celebrity, it has emerged.

London, June 21 : Naomi Campbell escaped a jail sentence and got just 200 hours community service and a 2,945-pound fine over assault on jet - just because she's a famous celebrity, it has emerged.

The Brit supermodel has been charged with community service and fine for a shocking bout of air rage on a British Airways jet after her bag went missing. During the fracas, Campbell, 38, told police they were picking on her because she was black and famous.

But on the night of June 20 there were claims that being a celebrity was what got her a light sentence.

"This is a disgrace. She basically got away with it. It's one rule for the rich and famous and one rule for the rest of us. If anyone who wasn't a celebrity did this they'd get a custodial sentence - but not Naomi. She's set a terrible example and should be locked up for it," The Sun quoted her, as saying.

Paul McKeever, chairman of the Police Federation, said: "The courts should come down hard on those who attack police officers."

Giving details about the incident, Pilot Captain Mark Sutherland revealed that several passengers' bags had gone missing including one of Naomi's - containing an expensive Yves St Laurent outfit she planned to wear on a US chat show.

She roared into her mobile: "They've lost my f****** bags, get me another flight, get hold of the press, get hold of my lawyer."

As Captain Sutherland and other crew members tried to calm her down, Campbell screamed at them: "Get me my f****** bags now. F*** you, Captain, f*** you. You are a racist, you would not be doing this if I was white."
