New York, Jun 02 : American actress Kristin Davis has revealed in an interview that she finds the 'Sex and the City' life exciting.
She also opened up about the difference between the then and now.
Davis, 43, stars alongside co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall as the always-proper Charlotte York in 'Sex and the City', which opened in the US on Friday.
She revealed how excited she was about coming back, and how overwhelmed she was by its reception.
"It was crazy and fun and really surpassed what we expected. We didn't expect such a fan response when we were filming - it was nuts," the New York Daily News quoted her as saying.
"We used to have a little group of the New York paparazzi when we were filming the show that we knew, but we did not anticipate the circus that happened.
"The show had taken on a life of its own - what with TBS airing it - that we weren't really prepared for," she said.
Regarding watching the serial on TBS, she admitted that she had never watched it, and that the one time she did was due to jet lag.
"You know, I hadn't watched it. Really, by choice - it's kind of like your high-school yearbook, you can't go back to the past," she said.
"But I had jet lag one night - I think I had just come back from Africa - and I was up late and it was on TBS and I thought, 'Wow, I haven't really watched this'.
"So I thought I would just sit there and look at our hair - it's always interesting to look at the hairstyles - and it was a great episode that had held up so well," she added.
She remembered about the different changing fashions featured in the show over the years and how people focused so much on it.
"There was a time when Sarah had a lot of things on her head. Early on - I distinctly remember that," she said.
"We used to be kind of adventurous, and people got so focused on the clothes in a way that we did not anticipate. Everyone was just discussing it, discussing it, discussing it.
"In a certain way we kind of felt like we didn't want [the fashion] to take over," she stated.
She was asked if there was ever a time that a decision had to be taken to tone down the look of some of the characters.
On whether a four-year break is a plus for the movie, Davis stated that it was only now that she has come to realise its importance.
"Yes, I do now - but I didn't then. I really wanted to just go back to work straightaway," she stated.
"But I feel that for everybody - definitely for [writer-director Michael Patrick King] - both in front and behind the scenes, it gave us time to step away and take it all in.
"Something that we were not able to do when we were working [on the original series]," she added.
