Heath Ledger was not disturbed by The Joker: Christian Bale

British actor Christian Bale has dismissed speculation that The Joker role in the new Batman movie was the cause of late Australian actor Heath Ledgers death.

Washington, Jun 17 : British actor Christian Bale has dismissed speculation that The Joker role in the new Batman movie was the cause of late Australian actor Heath Ledger's death.

Bale put down the rumours that the Joker role had caused the actor a lot of distress, adding that Ledger, like him, was a professional.

"It's not for me to tell anybody or to pretend to have insights beyond what I absolutely know, but my instincts are that the idea Heath was disturbed by playing The Joker is ridiculous," E!online quoted him as saying to Total Film magazine.

"Heath was somebody who, like myself, acted for that immersion in a character. It's not an unusual thing. And from working with him and knowing him, I don't think that was unusual for him at all," he added.

Bale had spoken out in Total Film magazine on speculation that the late Heath Ledger may have been distressed by his role in the upcoming The Dark Knight.
