Musical Mamma Mia has topped the UK box office, earning 4.6m pounds in its opening weekend.

London, July 24 : Musical Mamma Mia has topped the UK box office, earning 4.6m pounds in its opening weekend.

The Abba musical pushed newly released Wall-E to the second spot that grossed 4.3m pounds at the weekend, reports BBC.

Last weekend's number two, Hancock fell to the third spot with the 2.0m pounds earnings.

Animation Kung Fu Panda, voiced by US actor Jack Black, moved to the fourth place with the 1.5m pounds.

Action adventure Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, starring Brendan Fraser moved up two places to number five, while Eddie Murphy's Meet Dave entered at number six.

Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy starrer 'Wanted' went down to the eighth position from six.

The latest Indiana Jones instalment, The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, re-entered the top ten at number nine, after nine weeks on release.

And Jet Li's fantasy action Forbidden Kingdom moved down five places to land at number 10.

The top ten at UK and Ireland Box Office are-:
