Whitney Houstons drug-damaged voice delayed her comeback album

Singer Whitney Houstons highly-anticipated comeback album was delayed because her addiction to drugs had damaged her vocal cords, say reports.

London, July 15 : Singer Whitney Houston's highly-anticipated comeback album was delayed because her addiction to drugs had damaged her vocal cords, say reports.

Sources have revealed that the 44-year-old singer's vocal cords are so badly damaged that she was finding it difficult to sing at the studio.

She could not even hold the high notes of her own song 'I Will Always Love You', they say.

Considering all that, music industry exec Clive Davis suggested her to take singing lessons.

The sources, however, have also said that the singer's voice has now improved, and that she sounds pitch perfect on the new record.

"She was smoking a lot and taking a lot of drugs. Her voice was almost unrecognisable. Thousands have been shelled out to train her back up to the original," the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

"But now she sounds terrific - she is going to blow everybody away," the source added.

The album, scheduled for a release on November 10, is yet to be named.
