Washington, July 10 : Mariah Carey is all set to have children at 39, and says there's nobody better to have them with than husband Nick Cannon.
"I couldn't imagine anybody that I've ever met being a better dad," Us magazine quoted the singer as telling August's Elle.
She said that she wanted to raise her kids with a dose of reality.
"You can get caught up in Hollywood-land or celebrity-land, and that's maybe not the best thing for kids, 'cause they didn't ask for it," she said.
"I really feel like it's very important to be responsible and to think, 'Well, maybe if I do this it's not the best thing for my child.' You have to take a backseat a little bit, and as someone in the public eye, you're not used to doing that," she added.
Carey even said that her relationship with Cannon is quite different than her previous marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola.
She said that her relationship with Mottola was more of a friendship and a working situation rather than a real relationship.
On the other hand, Carey added, she and Cannon both shared "a similar spiritual outlook on life."
