Washington, Jan 30 : Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have signed a deal with New Line to create a new franchise based on Wes Craven's 1984 film 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.'
New Line Cinema will re-launch the movie series centered on the iconic killer Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, a serial child killer murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burned face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.
A screenwriter for 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' will be hired once the Writers Guild of America strike ends, reports Variety.

New Line has signed Marcus Nispel to direct the horror franchise, which will be written by the screenwriting duo, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.
