Director Mark Romanek walks out of Universals Wolf Man

Mark Romanek has dropped out of directing the big-budget Universal Pictures pic The Wolf Man.

Washington, Jan 30 : Mark Romanek has dropped out of directing the big-budget Universal Pictures' pic 'The Wolf Man'.

The director walked out of the deal following a dispute over the movie's budget as well as creative issues.

Universal is claiming that the movie will cost 85 million dollars, with about 15 million dollars in tax breaks for shooting in the U.K.

With Romanek now out, the studio is hoping to land another director by the week's end, reports Variety.

Benicio Del Toro will be playing the lead role with Anthony Hopkins set to play his on-screen father. Emily Blunt has also signed on to play the female lead.

Universal is hoping to start work on the pic in March.

This is the second major disaster Universal has averted. The first once came after Brad Pitt walked out of "State of Play". They saved the pic from falling apart after roping in Russell Crowe to replace Pitt.
