Heath Ledger was an extraordinary actor: Cate Blanchett

Actress Cate Blanchett paid tribute to Heath Ledger acknowledging him as an extraordinary actor.

Washington, Jan 28 : Actress Cate Blanchett paid tribute to Heath Ledger acknowledging him as an extraordinary actor.

Blanchett, who starred in the film 'I'm Not There' with Ledger, said although they never shot scenes together she still remembers him as a cheerful person during production.

"I'd like to pay special tribute to Heath Ledger who I think was an extraordinary actor and was well on his way to being a master himself" People quoted her as saying at an award ceremony. "We will all miss you enormously.

The 38-year-old actress said that she admires the way Ledger kept evolving himself.

"I didn't have the great fortune of working with him but the last image I have, just this strong image, would be him dancing the first day he arrived on set," she said.

"[He] was just so joyful and I just admire the way he kept evolving as an actor. I think it's a tragic, tragic loss and everyone is reeling," she added.

Director Todd Haynes, who worked closely with the 'Brokeback Mountain' star in 'I'm Not There' remembered the actor as an extraordinary, deep and amazing guy,

"[Heath] was so special and so extraordinary and a really deep, amazing guy. It's hard putting this in the past tense. I know everyone, even those who never knew or met him, is finding this really, really hard," said Haynes.
