London, Jan 27 : Late actor Heath Ledger was obsessed with a British musician who died in similar circumstances aged 26.
The 'Brokeback Mountain' star was planning to make a film biography of Nick Drake, a British folk singer of 70s, who had also met a similar fate as him.
Ledger had already made an amateur music video for the Drake song Black Eyed Dog, a reference to Winston Churchill's description of depression.
According to friends, after returning from Perth following Christmas, the 28-year-old actor was planning to make a longer film on Drake, who killed himself with antidepressant pills overdose in 1974.
"He was still excited about a Drake film," Times Online quoted a friend, as saying.
Ledger had also spoken about the singer at the Venice film festival last September.
"Nick Drake is a very mysterious figure. I was obsessed with his story and music and I still have great hopes to tell his story one day," he said.
