Sam Mendes turns to comedy

After racking up a list of impressive dramas, director Sam Mendes is now thinking about conquering another genre - comedy.

Washington, Jan 25 : After racking up a list of impressive dramas, director Sam Mendes is now thinking about conquering another genre - comedy.

The director is set to direct an as-yet untitled comedy for Focus Features.

The pic, previously titled 'This Must be the Place', follows the journey of a young couple across the US as they search for somewhere to put down roots and raise the baby they are expecting.

The movie is based on an original screenplay by husband-and-wife team Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida, reports Variety.

Ed Saxon is producing with Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf's Big Beach co-financing the pic. Mendes is also on board as a producer through his Neal Street Prods.

Mendes will start work on the movie in March this year. He is currently wrapping up "Revolutionary Road" for DreamWorks, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.
