Reynolds, who was earlier involved with fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette broke his engagement with the singer in last February, reports New York Daily News.
Johansson herself was involved in a high-profile relationship with actor Josh Hartnett, but broke it off citing their busy lives as the reason.
Meanwhile, the actress is all set to don the director's cap when she makes her directorial debut with 'New York, I Love You'
The project that also includes director Woody Allen, takes in 12 directors to create five-minute films, all love stories set in New York City.
