Cruise has the right to practice how he feels: Travolta

Actor John Travolta has jumped to the defence of friend and fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise, insisting that the recent criticism directed towards the Mission Impossible star and his religious beliefs has been unfair.

Washington, Jan 22 : Actor John Travolta has jumped to the defence of friend and fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise, insisting that the recent criticism directed towards the Mission Impossible star and his religious beliefs has been "unfair".

Travolta spoke out after Cruise was ridiculed last week over a leaked video, which showed him rambling about the benefits of Scientology.

The 'Pulp Fiction' star said that the intense media scrutiny regarding the actor has gone too far.

"[Tom] has - we all have - the right to practice how we feel. It finally becomes unfair," People quoted him, as saying.

The video, which according to Cruise's representative was made in 2004 for a Church of Scientology event, has been making headlines since it surfaced on the Internet last week.

The video shows the actor passionately discussing his beliefs and declaring Scientologists have "the ability to create new and better realities."
