Britney needs to be arrested, says Dr. Drew Pinksy

American doctor Dr. Drew Pinksy says that Britney Spears family and friends can get the troubled singer proper and uncomplicated help - by calling the cops to arrest her.

Washington, Jan 20 : American doctor Dr. Drew Pinksy says that Britney Spears' family and friends can get the troubled singer proper and uncomplicated help - by calling the cops to arrest her.

According to Dr. Pinksy, having a person committed isn't as easy as it sounds.

He said that California law does not allow for Britney to be involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment by her family.

Hence, the only way out to get the 'Toxic' hitmaker appropriate treatment is to arrest her, he said.

"She needs to be arrested and have the judicial system order her into a mandated treatment program," the New York Post quoted him, as saying.

"If her family or her friends know she is engaging in illegal activities, they need to call the police and have her arrested. This is probably the only way she will ever get the help that she obviously so needs," he added.

The TV doc, who currently stars on VH1's Celebrity Rehab, further said: "As we saw with Britney's brief hospital stay, she was let out early because she was determined to not be a harm to herself or others."

"She would have to have a severe medical condition such as dementia in order for her family to have any power over her medical treatment," he added.
