Shop Boyzs Party Like A Rock Star named Top Song of 2007 in P2P

Shop Boyzs Party Like A Rock Star has been named the Top Song of 2007 in peer-to-peer or P2P file-sharing networks.

Washington, Jan 2 : Shop Boyz's "Party Like A Rock Star" has been named the Top Song of 2007 in peer-to-peer or P2P file-sharing networks.

P2P activity has come up as the most consistent indicator for finding out who the most tech-savvy media consumers are watching and listening to on the Internet.

To determine the most-traded files in the world of P2P, Wired News collaborated with BigChampagne Online Media Measurement, a Los Angeles-based firm which tracks media-consumption trends across all digital channels.

Focussing exclusively on P2P traffic, BigChampagne has compiled what can be called the most accurate list of Top Songs of 2007, using data from all the major file-trading protocols and networks, including BitTorrent, Gnutella and eDonkey.

Akon's "I Wanna Luv U" came second, while Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," bagged the third position.

The fourth position on the underground networks went to Mims' "This Is Why I'm Hot," while Akon scored another hit with "Don't Matter" at the fifth spot.

Other songs on the included T-Pain's "Bartender," Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat Soulja Boy" and Justin Timberlake's "My Love."

"If Soulja Boy and Shop Boyz would have sold as many CDs as they did singles, they'd be household names. They'd be superstars on par with 50 Cent and Kanye West," Wired News quoted BigChampagne co-founder and CEO Eric Garland, as saying.

Top Songs of 2007 on P2P are:

1. Shop Boyz, "Party Like A Rock Star"

2. Akon, "I Wanna Luv U"

3. Sean Kingston, "Beautiful Girls"

4. Mims, "This Is Why I'm Hot"
