The 'Hurricane' star defeated the likes of Tom Hanks, who got the second spot in the annual Harris Poll.
Johnny Depp jumped up four positions from last year's survey and landed the third spot, reports Contactmusic.
Julia Roberts, who was also the highest ranking female, and 'Hitch' star Will Smith rounded off the top five.
Others who made it to the list include A-listers like Matt Damon, Sean Connery, Sandra Bullock and Bruce Willis.
