Recently, the 28-year-old singer said that the show mainly responsible for his success is 'probably not gonna last too much longer.'
He said: "I feel like it's definitely lacking some credibility at this point."
However, he has now defended his harsh comments on his blog because he feels that his quotes were taken out of context.
"It's so sad that when you're asked something and you answer honestly... you're made out to be the bad guy," the New York Post quoted Daughtry, as stating on the blog.
"The funny thing is, if you heard the whole conversation you would've heard all the good things I said about the show as well. Like for instance: 'How it's an amazing platform to launch a career.'"
"I was never trying to diss the show or bite the hand that fed me so to speak," he added.
In the interview, Daughtry attributed part of Idol's problem on the terrible talent highlighted during the show's audition episode broadcasts that begin every season.
"People get tired of seeing people that suck. They spend three weeks on people that can't sing. Find some people that you can really invest in," he said.
He went on to say that after a few more seasons, the show would have run through every talented and unsigned singer in America.
"After going for so long, who else is out there that still wants to get on the show?" he asks.
