London, Jan 14 : Director Stephen Fry is getting set to bring the life of ngland's German-born composer Handel to the big screen.
The composer, a favourite of George I, wrote some of the greatest music in history, including 'Messiah'.
Now, Fry has bought the rights to a screenplay about Handel and is set to tell his tale as well as that of one of his favourite singers Susannah Cibber.
The film has been christened with the working title of 'Hallelujah!'
Fry will be directing from a script written by Nicholas Adams. Gina Carter is producing the biopic.
Carter described the script as 'exciting' and 'pacey'.
"It is a really exciting script, very pacey and a good, strong story. Handel was a great big character," Times Online quoted her, as saying.
Handel spent most of his adult life in England. He became a British citizen in 1727, and penned four anthems for the Coronation of George II.
Handel wrote parts especially for Cibber in Messiah and Samson. She also sang for his 'David in Saul' as well as appeared in 'Deborah and Hercules' for him.
