Johnny Depp never wanted to be an actor

Johnny Depp has revealed that he never wished to be an actor, because music was his first love.

Washington, Jan 12 : Johnny Depp has revealed that he never wished to be an actor, because music was his "first love".

Depp, who has sung his own songs in musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street admitted that he never wanted to become an actor.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star said that the only reason he took up acting was because it was financially satisfying.

He also revealed that he's a musician at heart and that he wasn't originally bothered about the acting roles he took up.

"I never wanted to be an actor. It just seemed like a good way to make easy money," Contactmusic quoted Depp, as telling Rolling Stone magazine.

"I didn't care what the movies were. If they're going to pay me, fine," he added.

He also described how he joined a rock and roll band in his teens and played guitar at parties in his neighbourhood, adding that the first song he learnt to play in full was Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven.

"It was freedom. Right off the bat, there was no question: I had found my future," he said.
