Tom Hanks reveals his passion for Aston Villa

American film actor Tom Hanks has at the Premiere of his new movie revealed that he is a fan of English football club Aston Villa.

London, Jan 10 : American film actor Tom Hanks has at the Premiere of his new movie revealed that he is a fan of English football club Aston Villa.

In the movie Charlie Wilson's War, which is based on a true story, Hanks plays playboy congressman Wilson, who secretly assisted rebels in Afghanistan in their war with the soviets.

He stars alongside Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman, in what is dubbed as "the most successful covert operation in history".

However, at the premiere, Hanks shed his politician image in favour of football, by wearing an Aston Villa scarf, because he "likes the team".

When asked about whom he was supporting in the US Presidential election he most definitely was not as forthcoming as he was with his football.

"You guys have all the luck in the UK, you get yours over and done with so quickly. We've got several more months to go. Ask me in six months when I've decided," Daily Snack quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts is reported to have decided to boycott the Golden Globes ceremony, while Hanks said he would not be in the US anyway.
