T-Series has refuted film director Ram Gopal Varmas claim that companys chairman Bhusan forged papers after the contract was terminated, and said that the company will reply appropriately to his allegations in court and not in the media.
New Delhi, Feb 9 : T-Series has refuted film director Ram Gopal Varma's claim that company's chairman Bhusan forged papers after the contract was terminated, and said that the company will reply appropriately to his allegations in court and not in the media.
"We had agreement for 14 films with Varma in 2006. Four films have already been released. Varma has taken an advance and issued receipts and acknowledgements for it. Now, he is going back on the agreement and not performing his part," said Hiren Mehta, Legal Adviser of T-Series.
"Varma is attempting to wriggle out and dishonour his contractual obligations for reasons best known to him. We have filed a suit at the Civil Court in Noida on January 23 to protect our interest and hearing is fixed for February 13," Mehta added.
"The courts at Noida have jurisdiction to try this matter as the cause of action arose in Noida. T-Series had filed the complaint earlier and Varma should respond to the summons instead of filing a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Crime Branch," he said.
Mehta asked Varma to reply in the court instead of going to the media and issuing wrong statements.
Earlier, Varma on Friday had filed a complaint against T-Series with the Joint Commissioner of Police in the Mumbai Crime Branch.
"I filed a criminal complaint with the police on Bhushan for fraud and forgery and also constantly threatening me with his connections in the Noida courts where he claims he has all the judges in his control and he can make them do anything he wants," Varma said.
"The complaints are about some dispute on contract. While Varma said he had entered into a contract for only one movie, he alleged in the complaint that the number of movies was increased by forging the documents," said Joint Commissioner (crime) Rakesh Maria.
Speaking about terminating the contract, Varma said that he had a 14 film contract with T-Series and had already delivered some of the films to Bhushan.
"I was not comfortable working with Bhushan as I didn't like his attitude. So I decided to stay away," he added.
