Leonardo DiCaprio sues building contractors

Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio is suing dozens of building contractors pertaining to a dispute over the construction of a basketball court, which the actors neighbours claimed damaged their property.

Washington, Feb 9 : Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio is suing dozens of building contractors pertaining to a dispute over the construction of a basketball court, which the actor's neighbours claimed damaged their property.

The 33-year-old actor has filed legal papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on 30 January, along with his cousin Robert Hrtica, from whom he rents the Hollywood Hills home.

The duo allegedly claim that the contractors and landscapers who constructed the basketball court in 2004, and another contractor who worked on a retaining wall for neighbours Ronald and Joan Linclau, should be consider the culprits for any damage to the Linclaus' property.

The 'Titanic' star and Hrtica also challenged Linclaus' own lawsuit, filed in May 2007 claiming the basketball court damaged their property. They said that the lawsuit did not hold any ground and was completely meritless.

"Seeking a scapegoat for the potential problems that they themselves created and the creation of a backyard for themselves free of charge, (the Linclaus) filed this lawsuit in an apparent attempt to extort the cost of construction of a new retaining wall," Contactmusic quoted DiCaprio's court papers, as stating.

In a hearing last month, a judge ruled that the Linclaus need to amend their lawsuit as it doesn't prove Leo did anything wrong, or it will be thrown out of court.
