Amy Winehouse to perform at Grammys via satellite

Amy Winehouses wish to perform at the Grammys has been quashed, after the singer was denied US visa.

Washington, Feb 8 : Amy Winehouse's wish to perform at the Grammys has been quashed, after the singer was denied US visa.

The 24-year-old singer, who was supposed to perform at the musical awards, would now be performing via satellite at the ceremony in L.A, according to reports.

According to a statement released by her publicist, Winehouse is disappointed with the decision but has accepted the ruling, reports People.

"The singer has been invited to appear at the event on Sunday after receiving an amazing six nominations for the prestigious awards," the statement said.

"Unfortunately, her application for a visa to enter the United States of America has been rejected at this time by the American Embassy in London.

"Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago, and although disappointed with the decision, has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery," the statement continues.

"Amy has been treated well and fairly by the Embassy staff and thanks everyone for their support in trying to make this happen. There will of course be other opportunities and she very much looks forward to visiting America in the near future," the statement added.

According to EW.com, the troubled singer will perform and accept any awards via video feed, as said by a music executive involved in Grammys.
