New York, Feb 6 : A panic-stricken Britney Spears called her father Jamie while he was catering a large Super Bowl party on Feb 3, and begged him to get her out of the hospital.
The troubled singer had just learned about her extended stay at the psychiatric ward of UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, when she desperately called her father, who was recently handed control of her legal and financial affairs.
In a new declaration signed by Jamie Spears, her father claims that he failed to visit his daughter on Feb 3, because he was working, stating, "I am a cook, and I was catering a large Super Bowl party."
Thus, a frantic Britney tracked him down on his cell phone "at least four times" and begged him to take her out of hospital.
"She called me about every 20 minutes. (She said), `Daddy, what are you doing?' I told her I was cooking. Britney said, 'What are you doing cooking, daddy? Why are you not here with me?' I told her, 'Baby, daddy's got to work,'" the New York Post quoted Jamie, as stating in the declaration.
He claims that Britney then asked him to "hurry up and get here... because you gotta get me out of here," before asking him to bring her some vanilla ice cream when he visited her that evening.
When he finally got to his daughter's bedside, Jamie told the court that Britney turned to him and said, "Come on, Daddy. Let's get out of here. Take my hand, and let's walk out of here together."
In his new declaration, Jamie also claims that even his daughter has started to turn against her manager/companion Sam Lutfi, who was served with a restraining order and instructed to stay away from the Spears family.
"Britney told me that there was some property of hers that Sam Lutfi had wrongfully taken. She asked me to help get it back. I told her that I would," Jamie said.
