Academy Award producers have apologised to actress Whoopi Goldberg for leaving her out of an Oscar montage.

Washington, Feb 27 : Academy Award producers have apologised to actress Whoopi Goldberg for leaving her out of an Oscar montage.

Gil Cates, the Oscars' producer apologised for the oversight, which some including Goldberg as a slight, and described it as an "an absolute oversight".

"No harm was intended, and I feel very, very badly that she was left out. I'm going to call her and tell her that," People quoted him, as saying.

He further clarified that although it was described as a montage of hosts, the piece shown during this year's ceremony was actually "supposed to be a montage of 80 exciting moments of the Academy Awards" culled from hundreds of hours of footage,.

"Basically, that was not a montage about hosts," he said.

However, he added that the Goldberg, a two-time presenter, should certainly not have been left out of it.
