Sir Elton John went out of his way to raise money for charity at his post-Oscars party - by offering to remove his pants.

Washington, Feb 26 : Sir Elton John went out of his way to raise money for charity at his post-Oscars party - by offering to remove his pants.

The veteran singer hosted an auction following the 80th Academy Awards ceremony on Feb 24.

And he was ready to drop his suit pants to persuade guests to hand over more cash.

The event managed to raise a record 5.1 million dollars, which would go to Aids research.

Actress Sharon Stone, who helped raise the funds in her guise as auctioneer, confessed that she wouldn't join the singer and remove any clothing, hinting instead to her crotch-flashing performance in 1992 movie Basic Instinct.

"I'd do that, but you've seen it before," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
