Washington, Feb 10 : American actor Nicolas Cage has started legal proceedings against Kathleen Tuner for falsely accusing him in her new autobiography.
Turner, who was Cage's co-star in 'Peggy Sue Got Married', had accused him of drunk driving and theft in her 'Send Yourself Roses' autobiography.
The 53-year-old actress also insisted that Cage went to great lengths to disobey his uncle and the director of the 1986 comedy, Francis Ford Coppola, and even got himself in trouble with the police while filming.
"Everything Francis (Ford Coppola) wanted him (Cage) to do, he went against to show that he wasn't under his uncle's wing. Which was ridiculous. Oh, that stupid voice of his and the fake teeth! Honestly, I cringe to think about it. He caused so many problems," Contactmusic quoted Turner, as writing in the book.
"He was arrested twice for drunk driving and, I think, once for stealing a dog. He'd come across a Chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket," she stated.
In response to the shocking statements, Cage issued libel proceedings against the actress on Feb 8.
"The libel action follows false allegations that appear in the forthcoming autobiography. As legal proceedings have been commenced, it would be inappropriate to comment further," a spokesman for the actor said.
