According to studio estimates, Will Smith drama Seven Pounds landed the second with 16 million dollars, reports E! Online.
'The Tale of Despereaux', an animated film, came third after earning 10.5 million dollars.
'The Day the Earth Stood Still' stood fourth with 10.2 million dollars and Four Christmases', starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, rounded off the top five with 7.7 million dollars.
The top-grossing weekend films are:
