Meryl Streep top choice to play Hillary Clinton

Meryl Streep is the best person to portray Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton on the big screen, according to Lifetime Televisions latest Every Woman Counts poll.

Washington, April 9 : Meryl Streep is the best person to portray Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton on the big screen, according to Lifetime Television's latest 'Every Woman Counts' poll.

Streep, who played a U.S. senator ruthlessly trying to get her son to the White House in the 2004 remake of 'The Manchurian Candidate,' was the top choice among 500 women surveyed nationwide.

Glenn Close was the second choice while Diane Keaton was third.

And Barack Obama, Clinton's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, told Tyra Banks in September that he initially thought Denzel Washington should portray him.

"But then somebody pointed out that, with my ears, it might have to be Will Smith," People quoted Obama, as saying.
