Washington, Apr.5 : Rumours are abounding that singers Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z got married yesterday, but neither of them is confirming.
The excitement began after the couple visited the village hall in Scarsdale, New York to get a marriage license April 1.
On Friday, there was a lot of activity at Jay-Z's penthouse apartment, with a tent being erected atop the building, and after sometime an SUV carrying what seemed to be AV equipment arrived, followed by deliveries of party rentals and flowers.
"It's [happening] tonight," People magazine quoted a source, as saying.
"A lot of their friends are booking hotel rooms," the source added.
A source revealed that Amy's Orchids was hired to provide 50,000 to 60,000 white orchid blooms from Thailand for a "big party." At the apartment, waiters were seen practicing their service and a source said that DJ Cassidy, a favourite of Jay-Z, would be spinning.
"Cassidy mentioned a week ago that he was really excited for the Jay Z and Beyoncé wedding party to happen," a source said.
The date is also very special for the two, as the number four is close to both, with Jay Z being born on 4 December 1969 and Knowles on 4 September 1981.
Even though all the preparations point to a wedding, however, some people believe that the party could be to celebrate the Brooklyn-born rapper's 150 million dollar mega-deal with Live Nation, the California events company.
However the arrival of people who are likely to be guests, has been happening in New York in the past few days.
Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny Child mates Rowland and Williams, and Jay-Z's friends Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin and producer Rodney Jerkins, who is working on Beyoncé's new album and is a friend of Jay-Z's, zipped into town a couple of days ago.
