Movies are best watched in well-lit rooms

Think twice before catching up the latest movie in a cinema hall - for a new study has found that films are best watched in well-lit rooms.

London, Apr 4 : Think twice before catching up the latest movie in a cinema hall - for a new study has found that films are best watched in well-lit rooms.

According to scientists, dimming lights in cinemas does not help you see a movie better.

Researchers at Cumbria University found that dark auditoriums or living rooms prevent the eyes from seeing the screen at its optimum definition.

It is better if surrounding light is closer to the brightness of the screen, the researchers said.

"A darkened room may not be conducive to picking up maximum visual detail," the Mirror quoted Cumbria University's Prof David Manning, head of medical imaging, as saying.
